Industry Situation of Adipic Acid and Business Prospect of Huafeng Group

BASF's solution is suitable for high-power electric vehicle charging stations

In conjunction with the inauguration of BASF's engineering plastics plant in Zhanjiang, BASF and BASBA Technology Development Co., Ltd. ("BASBA") showcased concept superchargers made with BASF's innovative material solutions. Ultramid ® polyamide (PA), Ultramid ® Advanced polyphthalamide (PPA), Ultradur ® polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and Elastollan ® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) were used to manufacture various components of the concept supercharger, including electronic housings, charging guns, circuit breakers, switches, safety components, cables and cooling systems.

Marilyn Lye, Vice President of Industrial Business Management, Asia Pacific, BASF Characteristic Materials, said: "The materials used in the concept supercharger have outstanding mechanical properties, including flame retardancy and electrical insulation. Our proprietary simulation technology, Ultrasim ®, also helps to shorten the design cycle."

The prerequisites for materials used in high-power charging stations are often more demanding because they require higher current and voltage loads. Therefore, these charging stations need to be made of high-performance materials that can exhibit excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures and have high dimensional stability.

"The Concept Supercharger is a prime example of how we continue to meet the growing demand for high-power chargers with reliability, durability and safety," said Lin Guojun, chairperson of Basbah.

The BASF Co-Innovation Center also supports the stylish design of the Concept Supercharger.

Lin Guojun added: "As China is expected to account for about half of the global EV market by 2025, charging infrastructure is the key to achieving the popularization of electric vehicles. Therefore, charging stations have been synchronized with market demand and government investment and accelerated construction. In particular, high-power charging stations can improve the feasibility and consumer experience of EV charging."
